Hydrogen-Ti3+ Complex as a Possible Origin of Localized Electron Behavior in Hydrogen-Irradiated SrTiO3

چکیده

A recent muon spin rotation ($\mu^+$SR) study on a paramagnetic defect complex formed upon implantation of $\mu^+$ pseudo-proton into SrTiO$_3$ is reviewed with specific focus the relation experimental signatures coexisting delocalized and localized electrons in hydrogen-irradiated metallic films. The complex, composed interstitial Ti$^{3+}$ small polaron, characterized by dissociation energy about 30 meV. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations generalized gradient approximation (GGA) +$U$ scheme for corresponding hydrogen reveal that thermodynamic donor level associated electron transfer from an H$^+$-Ti$^{3+}$ to conduction band can form just below minimum realistic $U$ values. These findings suggest coexistence be realized electron-rich conditions.

Formation of Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen Peroxide in Electron Irradiated Crystalline Water Ice

Water ice is abundant both astrophysically, for example in molecular clouds, and in planetary systems. The Kuiper belt objects, many satellites of the outer solar system, the nuclei of comets and some planetary rings are all known to be water-rich. Processing of water ice by energetic particles and ultraviolet photons plays an important role in astrochemistry. To explore the detailed nature of ...

Temperature Dependence of the Formation of Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen Peroxide in Electron-irradiated Crystalline Water Ice

We conducted a systematic study of the irradiation of crystalline water ice in an ultrahigh vacuum chamber at pressures of about 10!10 torr. Crystalline water ices of 115 " 30 nm thickness were irradiated with energetic electrons at 12, 40, 60, and 90 K to simulate energetic particle interaction with solar system and interstellar water ices. The production rates of molecular hydrogen (H2), mole...

Development of 153Sm/177Lu-EDTMP as a possible therapeutic complex

Introduction:Targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) has been demonstrated to be an effective therapeutic tool in patients with disseminated bone metastasis. TRT is generally performed with a single radionuclide. In this study we investigated the feasibility of combined TRT with a high-energy beta emitter (153Sm) and a low energy beta emitter (177Lu) in wistar...

Uncovering the complex behavior of hydrogen in Cu2O.

The behavior of hydrogen in p-type Cu(2)O has been reported to be quite unusual. Muon experiments have been unable to ascertain the preferential hydrogen site within the Cu(2)O lattice, and indicate that hydrogen causes an electrically active level near the middle of the band gap, whose nature, whether accepting or donating, is not known. In this Letter, we use screened hybrid-density-functiona...

Hydrogen sensing by localized surface plasmon resonance in colloidal solutions of Au-WO3-Pd

Nowadays, hydrogen has attracted significant attention as a next generation clean energy source. Hydrogen is highly flammable, so detection of hydrogen gas is required. Gold nanoparticle based localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is an advanced and powerful sensing technique, which is well known for its high sensitivity to surrounding refractive index change in the local environment. We p...
